Produces fine grain and high sharpness. Order in the next 0: Since I work overseas, it’s good to have a developer that’s not very sensitive to questionable water supplies, heat, etc.
I routinely use it to push HP5 3 stops and Delta 2 stops with great results. The remaining dry chemicals keep much better than mixed developer although the mixed solution keeps at least 2 months koddak stored properly.

Really let it sit a while and look for tiny un-dissolved particles. The results are as good or better than what I got with HC which I xrol for years. Kodak Professional XTOL is a two-part powder developer suitable for most professional black and white films.

For me it consistently produces finer grain and can be used with a wide variety of film. It never fails me.

Xtol is my favorite developer for black-and-white film. Keep shaking it until it’s really completely dissolved. In Stock Update Location close.
I mix full strength and dilute just prior to use. Also once mixed and stored in airtight bottles, the developer stays good for months.
I don’t worry so much about my health using it and I also don’t worry about pouring it into the drain. Images are not particularly contrasty which preserves the maximum amount of detail in both highlights and shadows and can easily be increased in koddak printing process.

Back View Show More Less. So far it has worked great for me. It’s basically self-exhausting, too, so it’s hard to overdevelop. Gives a great tonal range if you got the exposure right.
