A Perfect Proposal – Katie Fforde. Sophie Apperly is young, attractive, practical, domestic & totally unappreciated by her academic family. Following on from the recent Katie Fforde thead, I have just finished reading my free copy of her new book ‘A Perfect Proposal’. (Thanks Charlotte!). Fforde’s latest is a rambling, bighearted novel in which a young Londoner becomes entangled with a wealthy American family.

A Perfect Proposal by Katie Fforde

I’m not a fan of stories driven by unnecessary misunderstandings and I find them frustrating to read. Newer Post Older Post Home.

I loved Sophie and Luke. A promising start, I was entertained and rightly frustrated at the treatment of Sophie by her family and her meeting with Luke was perfectly charming. As a child, Matilda stayed in a house on the Cornish coast; cforde house holds her happiest memories, and she wants Sophie to find it for her.

But just what does she have to do in return…? When her friend, Milly, invites her to New York for a holiday, Sophie decides to go. Like the foam on a high pro;osal, overly sugared cup of fancy coffee, this book is fluffy and sweet.

She comes from a lot of money. Sophie has to returned Sophie Apperly has to get away from her family. Overall I thoroughly recommend A Perfect Proposal. The writing style is fresh and light, and makes for easy reading, making this a quick-grab book that will lighten your mood in a jiffy.

The extraordinarily passive main character just wanders through life being sweet and good and beautiful while things happen to her. X spite of this, her books have delightful qualities and I love to read them.

By the way, it amuses me to see the quotes on Katie’s novels about what a great beach read they are. We meet Sophie and are given the time to connect to her. Sophie, despite the author clearly stating that she isn’t stupid, actually does seem a bit stupid where it matters.

I liked Luke, he was a rather typical Fforde hero, himself and Sophie had lots of ups and downs and what not but we all knew how it was going to end. Feb 12, Brandee un Conventional Bookworms rated it liked it. He’s an attorney and Sophie finds that he’s very mistrusting.

In most of her novels, this is my biggest frustration. Matilda and Luke himself are both rather wealthy. I loved our main character Sophie was she was a very down to earth girl who many people will relate to.

He is suspicious of Sophie he doesn’t trust her when prposal comes to his grandma and his suspicions are only made worse when Sophie agrees to help find the old Cornish house that Matilda stayed in when she was younger back in England. But alas, Sophie can only stay in New York for a week. Nov 17, Kate GirlReading rated it it was ok.

Switched by Amanda Hocking. As luck would have it the job falls through at the last minute but the family graciously reimburses her for the ticket, leaving Sophie to enjoy her trip to New York on a very limited budget. However as Sophie became more and more involved with this Prlposal, I began to tire of “you’re English so you must prefer it this way I would recommend this book for anyone looking for an easy, warm homely read.
